The 2011–12 Carolina Hurricanes season will be the 33rd season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 22, 1979,[1] and 15th season since the franchise relocated to Carolina to start the 1997–98 NHL season.

The Hurricanes will attempt to qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time since the 2008–09 NHL season.
